The Region 10 Student Activities committee is run by some of the best minds present in the IEEE Asia Pacific Region.

1. Takao Onoye (SAC Coordinator)

Takao Onoye received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in electronic engineering, and his Dr.Eng. degree in information systems engineering, all from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1991, 1993 and 1997, respectively. He started his academic carrier at Osaka University as a research associate in 1993, where he was promoted to a Lecturer in 1998. From 1999 to 2003 he was an Associate Professor at the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering, Kyoto University. He is presently a Professor at the Department of Information Systems Engineering, Osaka University. Meanwhile, he was with the ICS Department, University of California, Irvine, as a visiting associate researcher in 1997 through 1998.

2. Mini Shaji Thomas (SAC Advisor)

Mini Shaji Thomas graduated from University of Kerala, completed her M. Tech from IIT Madras (both with gold medals) & PhD from IIT Delhi, India, all in Electrical Engineering. Presently Mini is Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Mini received the prestigious ‘career Award’ for young teachers, Govt. of India, She has set up the first of their kind SCADA lab and Substation Automation Lab in JMI and also started a new M. Tech program in Electrical Power System Management. She started a unique training program for the practicing engineers, which is highly appreciated by the Power Automation Industries. She has published more than 60 papers in International Journals and Conferences of repute. Mini was the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and currently she is the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) of JMI, and is the coordinator of the Special Assistance Program (SAP) on Power System Automation from UGC Government of India and other research projects.
Mini Shaji Thomas serves on the Board of IEEE Educational activities board (EAB) and IEEE Publication Services and Products Board (PSPB) in 2012. She served as the Vice Chair of the MGAB (Member and Geographic Activities Board) of the IEEE for 2010 &2011. She is also a member of the PES LRP committee for 2012. Mini has won IEEE MGA Innovation award 2008, IEEE Power & Energy Delhi Chapter Outstanding Power Engineer award 2008, IEEE R10 Outstanding Volunteer award 2005, and IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor award 2002 to name a few of the recognition from IEEE.

3. Om Perkash Batra (SAC Mentor)

Om Perkash is a communication engineer (MS 2011) and currently working with General Electric (GE) energy as Data Analyst for electrical data. He finished his Masters of Engineering in communication from Australian National University, Canberra. Prior to his Masters, he has worked with Procter & Gamble Pakistan as “Process Optimization Analyst” for two years.
Om Perkash served as Regional Student Representative (RSR) from 2008 to 2011. He was the first RSR to be included in Region 10 Executive committee as member. He was awarded “MGA Leadership Award” 2011 for his significant contributions and exceptional leadership in Region 10 and global student activities. He started as student member with IEEE in 2004 as a branch volunteer and later became Chair of IEEE-NUCES Karachi student branch for 2004-2005. In 2007, he organized a mega national level event and first ever Pakistan Student Congress 2007 in parallel with IEEE International conference with Karachi Section, which motivated many students to join IEEE and motivated many students to initiate / re-activate IEEE Student branches in their universities. He volunteered as Secretary IEEE Karachi Section and helped IEEE Karachi section to re-activate after being dead for 5 years.
Currently he is serving as IEEE MGA GOLD representative to MGA SAC committee where his primary responsibility is to generate the activities which improve the relationship between students and GOLD members globally. He is also serving as Secretary for IEEE ACT Section, and member of IEEE MGA Center of Leadership excellence committee. Besides IEEE, he is also serving as International Student Ambassador to Australian Capital Territory government.

4. Prasanna Venkatesan (GINI Coordinator)

Prasanna is the cofounder of amgonna.com and hubvents.com . He is primarily interested in business models and technology that can enable effective real life people connnections. Prior to this he worked with the IBM Software Labs . At IBM in collaboration with IBM Research he initiated and lead the iCollaborate project on people connections that was further demonstrated in the ACM SIGIR Conference . He also lead the IBM campus relations effort for National Institute of Technology , Warangal from where he graduated with Bachelors in Computer Science in 2008 and conducted research on Security and access control techniques . He is currently a voting member on the IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) and a member of the EAB SEOC and EPICS Committee's .Previously he was the GOLD Rep to EAB and a member of the MGA GOLD Committee in 2010 and 2011 . He is also currently serving as the R10 GINI Coordinator and R10 Membership development coordinator for IEEE Computer Society. He is also highly interested in IEEE Pre University efforts and leads the Teacher in Service Program activities in India

5. Farish C.V (Webmaster)

Farish C V is pursuing undergraduate education in Electronics and Communication stream (3rd year) at KMCT College of Engineering Kerala, India.
He is an active IEEE volunteer in all major volunteering levels of IEEE starting from the Student Branch Webmaster (2009-2010), Collaboration Platform Team Member IEEE R10 GINI (2010), , LINK (IEEE Kerala Student Activities) Webmaster and LINK (IEEE Kerala Student Activities) Membership Sustainability Initiative Chair (2011), IEEE Kerala Section vTools Coordinator and Electronic Communication Committee Member (2011-2012). He was also involved in many highly critical and important IEEE Projects like IEEE Portal development for SIGHT (Special Interested Group on Humanitarian Technology) for which he received an appreciation certificate from 2013 IEEE President (Dr. Peter Staecker) (www.ieeesight.net), Revamped IEEE Kerala Student Activities and IEEE Kerala Section website (www.ieee-link.org and www.ieee.org/kerala) for which he received “Outstanding Contribution Electronic Communication of IEEE Kerala Section Award (2011)”, also he received Outstanding Contribution to IEEE Kerala Student Activities Award (2010)”, Involved in reactivation of inactive/sick Student Branches under Kerala. Developed IEEE LINK/Student Branch management tools (LINK eTools) (etools.ieee-link.org) for which he received “IEEE Kerala Section SAC Excellence Award (2011)” and Revamped Region 10 SAC Website.
Currently he is working as vTools Coordinator, LINK (IEEE Kerala Student Activities) Membership Sustainability Initiative and LINK (IEEE Kerala Student Activities) Management Tools (LINK eTools) head and also Electronic Communication Committee Member, IEEE Kerala Section. He is currently working on IEEE LINK (IEEE Kerala Student Activities) eTools (etools.ieee-link.org), designed and developed for IEEE LINK Volunteers, offers a plethora of eTools to ensure smooth functioning of the administration.

6. Hui Zhang (Student Representative 1)

Hui is a Ph.D student in Pattern Recognition in the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research interests are Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and biometric recognition. She has served as Branch Chair of IEEE@GUCAS, Beijing, and has been involved with YC-ICT2009, YC-ICT2010, and several other student activities across different sections in China.

7. Aryo M.S (Student Representative 2)

Aryo M.S, with full name Aryo De Wibowo M.S., graduated from Telkom Institute of Technology. He has served as Branch Chair IEEE Institut Teknologi Telkom 2010-2011, Chair IEEE Indonesia Student Congress 2011. He is also currently serving as the Officer IEEE Indonesia Section. He has experience be an Assistant Control Laboratory from 2009 to 2010, Coordinator Assistant Automation Laboratory from 2010 to 2011, Mentor Workshop PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) in 2010, and Mentor Journal Review in 2010.

8. Syeda Synnia Tanveer (Student Representative 3)

SYEDA SYNNIA TANVEER; has completed her Bachelors in Software Engineering (2007-2011) from GC University Lahore, Pakistan and is currently the student of MS Software Engineering (2011-2013) in the same university. She has been the topper of her batch throughout her bachelors. She is working as the Research Associate at Computer Science Department GC University Lahore. She has been the member of IEEE for 4 years. She has served on the following designations in her four years in IEEE tenure. Section Student Representative (SSR) IEEE Lahore Section; November 2010 onwards, Mentor IEEE Pakistan Student Congress 2011, Mentor IEEE Student Branch GC University Lahore; January 2011 onwards , IEEE GINI Industry Relations (IR) Representative IEEE Lahore Section; August 2009 onwards, IEEE Lahore Section Newsletter Editor; October 2010 onwards, Chair IEEE Student Branch GC University. Lahore; March 2008 - December 2010 (She was the founder of IEEE Student Branch at her university). She has been awarded by the Outstanding Student Volunteer Award by IEEE Lahore Section for Consecutive 3 years i.e. 2009, 2010 and 2011. She has participated in IEEE Region 10 Student Congress 2009 at NUS Singapore and IEEE Student/GOLD/WIE Congress 2011 at University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2011. She has participated in the WIECON’09Women in engineering Congress 2009 at Bangalore, India.
