The Region 10 Student Congress (R10SC) will be the largest IEEE event for students and young professionals in the Asia-Pacific region. The four days from 7th to 10th July will unite 150 students, young professionals and women in engineering, computer science and allied fields to explore ideas, develop skills and discuss issues in their profession. Leaders in their own right, almost all of the delegates will have led Student Branches at their universities, or GOLD or WIE Affinity Groups in their Sections (local areas). These delegates are highly motivated people who are eager to expand their international outlook. They will capitalise on the opportunity to interact with fellow like-minded individuals from across the region. Furthermore, the R10SC will attract 40 highly influential dignitaries; being IEEE office-holders from all over the globe.
The Region 10 Student Congress was first held in 2002 in Singapore, attracting 57 delegates. The event has since been held in Hong Kong (2004), Beijing (2005), Chennai (2007) and Singapore(2009). In 2011, this prestigious event will be held at the University of Auckland, New Zealand for the first time.
The theme of the 2011 Auckland R10SC is emerging technologies. Through the Congress, we aspire to create stimulating formal and informal environments for Region 10 IEEE students, young professionals, visiting dignitaries and New Zealand industry to explore ideas surrounding emerging technologies. They will examine and discuss knowledge, skills, trends and ideas, as well as be introduced to concepts relevant for innovative and entrepreneurial engineering.
